CAR
We recommend you avoid using Sat-Nav once you reach the outskirts of the village of Dalmellington, as many of our previous guests have advised us that it directs you into the Estate via the back drive (from the Loch Doon road), which is very rough. Therefore we recommend you arrive via the main approach, off the A713 (Ayr to Carsphairn road).
Glamping Pods – Turn left at the top of the driveway and you will see the pods car park on your left.
FROM THE SOUTH
From the M6/M74, take the A75 signposted to Dumfries.
Proceed past Dumfries on the A75 and turn right at Crocketford onto the A712. At the T-junction just after Balmaclellan turn right onto the A713.
Proceed along this road, passing through St John’s Town of Dalry and Carsphairn, into Dalmellington.
As you go through Dalmellington (going downhill practically all the way) you’ll pass over a mini-roundabout and then, a little further along on your left hand side, you’ll see a Jet Filling Station.
About 100 yards after the Filling Station take the left turn into the Craigengillan Estate drive (if you pass more than 150 yards out of Dalmellington you’ve gone too far).
FROM THE NORTH
From the M77/A77, at Ayr take the A713, signposted to Patna, Dalmellington, Carsphairn and Castle Douglas.
Follow this road, passing through the villages of Polnessan, Patna and Waterside.
As you drive towards the village of Dalmellington, take the right turn immediately after the round, red 30mph speed limit signs.
This is you on the Craigengillan Estate drive (if you pass the Jet Filling Station on your right you have gone too far).
Once on the Craigengillan drive you’ll see a Gate Lodge ahead of you on your left. Proceed for almost 2¼ miles along the drive:
Please particularly pay attention to the 20mph speed limit when you pass over the stone bridge after about 1 mile, as on this stretch of the drive you are very likely to encounter horses and riders, children, walkers and their dogs, further speed bumps and a few pot-holes.
After 2¼ miles and 7 speed bumps, carry on straight ahead and you will come to the carriage ring in front of the main house (main house is on your right hand side).
Carry on past the main house, around a left hand then sharp right hand corner and you will see the Stables Clocktower ahead of you. Park considerately here. Follow the path to the right, along the front of the Stables building, turning left through the small arched gateway. To your left is the door into the Estate office.
